About the Edinburgh Festival Theatre Operations ...
The Festival Theatre is the capital's arena for Scottish Opera and Scottish Ballet and is at the heart of the Edinburgh International Festival. The Theatre programmes an annual contemporary dance season, Dance Turns, alongside large scale musicals, International ballet companies and a variety of one night musical events.
There is much ancillary activity keeping the Festival Theatre alive. Café Lucia, A sixty-seat café-bar is situated in the entrance foyer. There are spacious hospitality suites for private or corporate entertaining, the Empire Rooms.
These are situated on the south side of the theatre at Level 2 on the left of the stairs. The suite is 96’ long and 21’ wide and can be divided by high quality moveable acoustic partitions into three roughly equal sections. Each section has its own door and connects through a pass door to the Dress Circle. At one end the rooms lead off the Johnnie Walker Bar and at the other end connect with the Dressing Rooms and Stage Door.
- Empire Room 1: (off the Johnnie Walker Bar) 34’x21’ – capacity 90 standing, 40 seated.
- Empire Room 2: 31’x21’ – capacity 80 standing, 30 seated.
- Empire Room 3: (connects to Dressing Rooms and Stage Door) 31’x25’ – capacity 110 standing, 50 seated.
